Thundarr the Barbarian

LORDS OF LIGHT! DEMON DOGS!

Do you remember those catchphrases? If so, you must a fan of the awesome 80s cartoon, Thundarr the Barbarian.
This post-apocalypic animated show for kids featured Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel surviving in a world of "savagery, super-science, and sorcery." Like I said: AWESOME.

When the show was released on DVD last year, I was happy to finally own this piece of animated nostalgia. I present to you this poster as an inspired homage to America's favorite post-apocalypse barbarian.

Tettssuuoooooo!!

Check out what's on Jeff Welborn's drawing board.

I wanted this particular piece to look like it came from a Manga book. Minus the stereotypical Manga style artwork. Because I just don't draw that way.

I started with a sketch in my sketchbook that I really didn't plan on inking, but I have been wanting to do more detailed inking in Manga Studio so I thought I would try it out on this piece.

It's Ash Wednesday, Charlie Brown

More Peanuts Parody by Brad Campbell

When I did the Peanuts Mardi Gras parody, I thought it would be funny to follow it up with an Ash Wednesday salute.  It would be funny if they actually made a Peanuts special about
such a dry, boring-sounding holiday. However, I think my fake plot description sounds pretty accurate and pretty entertaining.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler, Charlie Brown

Check out this Peanuts parody by Brad Campbell.

This is another parody in my series of fake Charlie Brown TV Specials. I actually think this would be a good idea for a Peanuts special. There could be a parade. The kids could have a float-loading party. Snoopy could dance around and throw beads at everyone. Also, I really like Snoopy's Charlie Brown scepter. I wish I had one of those.

In fact, I wrote a fake TV listing and posted it on my own art blog. Check it out @ bybradcampbell.com

Dead Or Awive ... You're Coming Wif Me.

Check out what's on Jeff Welborn's drawing board.

This is just one of those random doodles that popped up in my head I wanted to get down onto paper. An illustrated parable about how if we put our differences aside and work together we can all have cookies!

It was just supposed to be a rough sketch in my sketchbook but once I finished it I liked it and decided to see it through to completion.

The Prodigal Dog Returns

Check out what's on Brad Campbell's drawing board.

What the heck? New Roofus comics? Yes, Roofus fans (all three of you), Roofus has returned. I've finally retweaked the Roofus site and it's up and running with fresh-from-the-oven comics. It's been a few years since I've written and drawn Roofus, but I have to say ... it's good to be back.

Seeing Purple, Green and Gold

Check out what's on Jeff Welborn's drawing board.

Being a graphic artist in Louisiana means 2 things: 1. You need to learn to draw crawfish and alligators. 2. Every February be prepared to do a LOT of Mardi Gras designs. Your retinas will be burned in shades of purple, green, and gold because you see them so much. I don't mind though, Mardi Gras is a fun time and lets you go wild with your designs.

It's Groundhog Day, Charlie Brown!

Check out what's on Brad Campbell's drawing board.

I'm a huge Peanuts fan. As a kid, I watch ALL of the TV specials. ALL of them. Even "It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown." I recently had a thought. What if they never stopped making these specials? Sure, we still get an occasional new one.  But what if they made them year after year after year? After 63 years, they would eventually get around to animating the mundane holidays. I love this concept and I plan on doing a whole series of these. Stay tuned.
